Four traders fined in operation

LAHAD DATU: Four traders in the district were slapped with a compound fine by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) for violation of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

District KPDNHEP head Rino Hashim said the offences were detected during Sales and Services Tax (SST) checks on business premises in the vicinity of town on Monday and Wednesday.

“During the operation, we found four traders have breached the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and they were compounded for the offences,” Rino said yesterday.

According to Rino, the KPDNHEP also found the premises checked throughout the operation did not raise prices of their goods after 1 Sept 2018.

However, we issued verbal advice and reminder to traders not to increase the prices of goods on their old stock that is, those they received before 1 Sept 2018, he continued.

Rino said the KPDNHEP officer will continue to monitor business premises to ensure traders do not raise the prices of their goods indiscriminately apart from complying with directives stipulated by the Ministry.

Members of the public can channel their complaints or information on errant traders to the Lahad Datu KPDNHEP office or Customs Department , Rino said.

For enquiry or complaints, consumers can contact the Lahad Datu KPDNHEP office at 089 886 090, he said.
