Seri Mengasih Centre fundraising food bazaar on 15 June

 

KOTA KINABALU : Seri Mengasih Centre will hold a food bazaar to raise funds for its activities on 15 June.

The non-profit special development centre for children with special needs aims to collect at least RM300,000 from the sale of food.

Organising chairperson,Joanne Sario said RM 30,000 coupons priced RM10 each have been printed and will soon be on sale.

The centre was established 27 years ago and is entirely dependent on public contributions to operate.

It currently has about 1,000 students and 34 staff including volunteers.

According to Joanne,the centre requires some RM5,400 for each student annually.

“We therefore have several activities such as the food bazaar Pesta Mengasih held once in two years, to raise funds.” she explained.

There will be up to 60 stalls selling all kinds of food from Malay,Chinese and Indian to Japanese and Italian.

Handicraft and cakes produced by the special students will also be on sale at the event from 8am to 2pm.

Wife of the Chief Minister,Datin Seri Faridah Haji Tussin is expected to launch the bazaar.

Meanwhile the centre’s chief executive officer Ngo York Kong advised motorist to avoid Jalan Selangor that leads to the centre on 15 June to prevent traffic congestion.

A shuttle bus service will be provided at the main junction of Jalan Selangor to Seri Mengasih starting at 8am until the event ends.
