First M’sian construction summit to discuss

KUALA LUMPUR: The inaugural Malaysian Construction Summit 2008 (MCS) this June 3 expects to address the issue of supply chain bottlenecks in the industry as a major agenda.

The summit has been organised amid the immediate need for a high-level strategic platform to look into key issues affecting the industry, said MBAM president Patrick Wong in a statement yesterday.

Jointly organised by the Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) and Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI), the event expects to bring relevant industry players and government agency representatives to discuss key issues such as shortage of building materials, human resources, and recommended solutions for the industry, Wong said.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad will deliver the keynote address at the event which will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here.

He added that Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points will be given to qualified delegates by approved institutions for full attendance at the summit, to make it more attractive.

Construction stakeholders, key industry players and interested parties are encouraged to participate. MBAM participants can register at RM400 per pax,government agencies and members of endorsing organizations at RM600 per pax while non-members at RM800 per pax.
