Ruhiang Kiulu Adventure Challenge third edition in January

8th November, 2013

KOTA KINABALU: The 3rd edition of the extreme Ruhiang Kiulu Adventure Challenge will be held on Jan 18-19, 2014.

This time the adventure challenge will see Kiulu Town being the host for the entire event from start to finish, which will be jointly organised by the Casero Events and the Kiulu District Office.

There will be three categories with the Adventure Challenge as the main event comprising running, mountain biking, river crossing, sling shot (melastik), walking on bamboo poles (merampanau), walking on coconut shells (terompak kelapa), which covers a total distance of 40km overall.

Ride For Nature will be for beginners and people who want to test their cycling prowess on a gravel road trail, with some bike carrying sectors for a total distance of 35km.

Both events will commence at 7am on Jan 19, while the 30km Ultra Run will start at 3am.

The public is welcome to be part of this event where numerous family and fun-filled ground activities will be held.

The event is to promote the Tamparuli-Kiulu area as a sports tourism attraction, not only for its well known white water rafting on the Kiulu River, but also various extreme and traditional sports.

The organisers are very optimistic of a good response from avid and adventure marathon athletes in and outside the state, based on past events.

Early bird registration will be before Nov 11 and the closing date is on Dec 28.

Registration fees are RM80 for the Ride For Nature, RM50 for the Ultra Run, RM200 for the Adventure Challenge (discounts for early bird price is RM60, Ride for Nature is RM130 for the Ultra Run, RM180 for the Adventure Challenge).

Entry forms are available from Steve Johnny Mositun – 016-8171957 or Reinggo Tom – 014-3017319 for the Kiulu and Tamparuli District Offices.
