Organiser extends invitations to several schools

23rd August, 2012

KOTA KINABALU: The organiser of the Tuaran Hakka Youth 3 on 3 Basketball Challenge 2012 – Tuaran District Hakka Association Youth Group – has been trying to lure teams from schools from around the district to compete in the challenge that has been scheduled for Sept 2.

The organising committee chairman, Johnson Wong and his committee have been visiting quite a number of schools in Tuaran, Tamparuli, Kiulu and Tenghilan areas the last few days.

Among the schools are SMK Tamparuli, SMK Kiulu, SM St. John Tuaran, SMK Badin Tuaran, SMK Sri Nangka Tuaran, SMK Tenghilan, and SM 7 Day Adventist Tamparuli.

During the visit, they extended invitations to all the schools.

The one-day challenge will be held at the Tuaran outdoor basketball court.

It features these age group categories – 14, 15, 16 and 17 years old – for both boys and girls.

Among the objectives of the tournament are to promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth besides encouraging and luring them to be more involved in sporting activities.

The closing date for registration is on August 26 and entrance fee is RM50 per team of four players and a coach.

Johnson said the team managers’ meeting has been slated for the same date at 2pm at the Tuaran District Hakka Association office in Tamparuli.
