KOTA KINABALU: Some 150 ‘Jalur Gemilangs’ and Sabah state flags were distributed around Gaya Street, Beach Street and the Bazaar Ramadan at Lintasan Deasoka on Monday in preparation for the coming Merdeka month.
The distribution of the flags were carried out in conjunction with ‘Lambuk Porridge with Maggi 2012’ programme organized jointly by the 1Malaysia City Community and Nestle Products Sdn. Bhd. held at the compound of Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) which was launched by the Mayor, Abidin Madingkir.
The 150 ‘Jalur Gemilangs’ were delivered in person by the Mayor to each shop owner or bazaar visited by him with a reminder to them to keep the flags flying throughout the Merdeka month and later.
Meanwhile, 1,800 packets of ‘lambuk’ porridge were also prepared for the event on Monday for distribution to City Hall staff, visitors and vendors at the Bazaar Ramadan at Lintasan Deasoka.
Mayor Abidin said, the objective of the programme was to strengthen the existing friendship ties among its employees.
“Such activities can help to strengthen friendship relations among its employees when together they prepare and get ready to start cooking the ‘lambuk’ porridge,” he said.
In addition, the porridge cooking programme, which is jointly organized by Maggi, came under special monitoring from renowned Executive Chef Muluk.
The mayor took the opportunity to remind the vendors and visitors shopping at the Ramadan bazaars to maintain the cleanliness of the area and to take heed of the 5K programme (Cleanliness, Scenic, Security, Orderly and Wellbeing) which was implemented in March this year.
“Aspects of cleanliness must be emphasized at all times no matter where we are. I urge you all to always uphold the Anti-Litter and the 5K Programme so that the City will be litter-free as a community without litter and healthy,” he said.
Also present was City Hall Director General, Datuk Yeo Boon Hai.
