Bush meat still sold at Nabawan tamu despite SWD pledge

4th May, 2016

KOTA KINABALU: Bush meat is still being sold at the Nabawan tamu despite the pledge by the Sabah Wildlife Department to curb the trade, according to the Wildlife Watchers of Sabah.

In a statement, the Wildlife Watchers of Sabah said their supporters in Keningau who went to the tamu on April 30 found that bush meat was still being traded there and not a single wildlife enforcement officer was in sight.

Last week, a local English daily carried a report that the Sabah Wildlife Department was in the midst of carrying out an investigation into the bush meat trade carried out at the tamu in the previous week.

The Wildlife Watchers of Sabah urged the Sabah Wildlife Department to take immediate action to curb the sale of bush meat at the tamu.
