DiGi and Maybank launch DiGi SendMoney

15th July, 2012

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi) and Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) announced the launch of DiGi SendMoney, a new over-the-counter remittance service that will enable Malaysians and migrants alike to remit cash to nine countries across Asia.

DiGi SendMoney will be offered at 20 DiGi Centres nation-wide, including three newly-established DiGi Remittance Centres, and builds on the extensive reach of Maybank’s remittance service Maybank Money Express (MME). Through this offering, DiGi will become Maybank’s first remittance agent for MME.

Galvin Yeo, DiGi’s Head of Financial Services said, “We believe DiGi SendMoney will provide customers an easy, safe and rewarding way of remitting cash to key remittance destinations in Asia, and will particularly benefit a significantly large migrant community by providing them with an additional option for secure cash remittance. In addition, Malaysian customers who have domestic helpers or children studying in these countries can now also enjoy the new service option at our touch points.”

Lim Hong Tat, Deputy President and Head of Community Financial Services at Maybank said, “Maybank is already a market leader in the remittance business and we are very pleased with the continued success of the Maybank Money Express which was officially launched in September 2010.

DiGi SendMoney will facilitate money transfers for DiGi and non-DiGi customers to nine countries, namely Indonesia, Philippines, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Pakistan, Myanmar and Brunei, in an easy, safe and rewarding manner:

The DiGi SendMoney service has been available for use since 21 May 2012. For more information, please visit www.digi.com.my/whatshot_v3/digisendmoney.
