Matrade promotes Malaysia's composite industry at JEC Asia 2012

28th June, 2012

SINGAPORE: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and several Malaysian companies are participating in JEC Asia 2012, here, an international exhibition in Asia that brings together all global composite industry players in the region.

The three-day event beginning yesterday is being held at the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Trade Commissioner for Matrade Singapore Naim Abdul Rahman said Malaysia’s participation was more to assess how effective this exhibition is in promoting Malaysia’s composites industry.

“We have some players producing composite materials and they even have established international footprints.

“Our strength will be in green materials of biocomposites,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of JEC Asia 2012.

Among participating Malaysian companies are DK Composites, Petronas Research, Innovative Oilfield Services, Gerbang Mashur, Duralite, Nippon Palm, Malaysian Timber Industry Board, Sirim Bhd and Dref Corporation.

Being the national trade promotion agency, Naim said Matrade’s mission is to promote Malaysia’s exports and assist local companies to carve new frontiers in the global market, Naim said.

“Today as we continue to put the spotlight on capable Malaysian companies on the international stage, we are helping to make the phrase “Made-In-Malaysia” synonymous with excellence, reliability and trustworthiness,” he added.
