Q: I find it hard to accept when my friends poke fun at me. I don’t understand why they do that only to me and not to other friends.
I feel hurt and unhappy because of the bad jokes.
I cry every night.
How can I make them stop? I will be sitting for PMR this year and I can’t concentrate because of this problem.

A: I think that each time you find the jokes get under your skin; your friends will be encouraged to take the teasing further.
Even if you have to laugh at yourself, the best way is to laugh it off, along with them, if necessary.
When you don’t take them seriously, they will soon find another target for their fun.
No one owes you happiness. You owe it to yourself to be happy. This you must know.
Understand that happiness is a state of mind you build yourself through making the most of what you have.
When it comes to family and friends, be kind and generous with yourself. Sooner or later you will find they want to reciprocate in kind.
