TAWAU: Minister in the Sabah Chief Minister’s Office, Datuk Seri Nasir Tun Sakaran said the government would fulfill its promise to hand over land ownership titles to 776 settlers of the Umas-Umas Felda land scheme.
Nasir, who is also minister responsible for Felda Wilayah Sabahat Affairs, said the government and Felda were still in the process of preparing the land titles which would be issued soon.
Hence, he advised Umas-Umas Felda settlers to be patient and give room to Felda and the other relevant authorities to complete their tasks as in the end, the land ownership titles would still be theirs.
Nasir said the settlers should not listen to negatives stories or rumours spread by certain quarters regarding the land titles as the government would definitely fulfill its promise.
He said this to reporters after attending the Felda Settlers Cooperative and Entrepreneurship Awards 2012 presentation, here, yesterday.
Earlier, in his speech, Nasir advised Felda entrepreneurs and settlers to be knowledgeable, work to the maximum and optimise their skills in line with the government’s goal of turning Malaysia into a high-income nation.
He said to continue to succeed, they should give attention to six things – widening knowledge and networking, cooperating with all in the public and private sectors, being tenacious and competitive to go global, systematic management and best practices, making full use of available resources and grabbing opportunities to expand their business.
At the function, Udin Ambo from Felda Umas 1 emerged top in the entrepreneur’s category, beating five other finalists, while Koperasi Peneroka Felda Sahabat 5 Berhad was the champion in the cooperatives category. Both winners will represent Felda Wilayah Sahabat at the national level.
