7th September, 2010

KOTA KINABALU: Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the Royal Malaysian Navy’s capability has been further strengthened by the acquisition of two Scorpene-class submarines. Speaking at the handing over of Aidilfitri goodies at the Sepanggar Bay naval base here Sunday night, he said existing assets should be fully utilised to fortify the country’s defence.

“We are proud of the contribution of the navy in creating peace and prosperity in the country,” said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also the Territorial Army’s 504 Regiment Commander.

Earlier, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, accompanied by Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and a delegation of Perlis Territorial Army officers broke fast on board the KD Kedah. He was taken on a tour of the base, accompanied by Region Two Commander First Admiral Datuk Anuwi Hassan.

Prior to visiting the base, the Raja of Perlis visited Kota Marudu, about 150km from here, where he was greeted on arrival by Science, Technology and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili who is also Kota Marudu MP.
