Rozaimi chooses Kedah

23rd December, 2020

ALOR SETAR: Former national striker, Rozaimi Abdul Rahman has chosen to join Kedah next season largely due to his desire to acquire the teamwork experience of the squad.

In a post on the official Facebook page of Kedah Darul Aman (KDA) FC, the striker who previously played for Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDTII), said, it was not a problem for him to move to Kedah because he wanted to be with the Super League team.

“I choose Kedah because I have many friends here and I have to work much harder in a team like Kedah,” he said. Rozaimi, 28, said strong competition for a slot in a solid team like Kedah would spur him to prove his worth.

“With the return of the supporters in the stadium, there would a completely different atmosphere during matches.” “Kedah supporters are fanatics, I have to play well to earn their vociferous cheers,” said Rozaimi.

After leaving Sabah at the end of 2015, Rozaimi joined JDT before being absorbed into JDTII, until his contract was not extended for the next season.

Apart from Rozaimi, KDA FC, through a post on Facebook yesterday, announced several new faces who will play for the team including Rodney Celvin Akwensivie from Selangor and former Terengganu FC goalkeeper, Ilham Amirullah Razali.

The Kedah team also got back the services of their former players such as Ariff Farhan Md Isa from Felda United and Mohd Syazwan Zainon from Selangor, while retaining the services of three imported players, Renan Alves (Brazil), Kpah Sherman (Liberia) and Brice Hermann Tchetche Cyprus (Ivory Coast).

Meanwhile, the contracts of Amir Nazari (Philippines) and Muhammad Shakir Hamzah (Singapore) were not extended.

Meanwhile, businessman, Datuk Verdon Bahanda yesterday confirmed that he is no longer serving as chief executive officer (CEO) and director, as well as terminating all responsibilities in Sabah Football Club Sdn Bhd (Sabah FC).

Verdon said the decision was made after he had a meeting with Sabah Football Association (Safa) acting president, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin yesterday (Dec 20), who informed of SAFA’s decision to revamp the leadership in the parent body (Safa) and Sabah FC.

“During the meeting, I was informed that Safa will reimburse all expenses that I have incurred,” he said in a statement yesterday.

However, he did not mention the total expenditure.

He, however, said he would only sign all documents transferring rights in Sabah FC to Safa and tender his resignation after receiving a refund from Safa for all expenses he had incurred. – Bernama
