KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Thalassaemia Society (STS) and Special Olympics Sabah (SOS) each received RM101,008.50 yesterday from the total of RM202,016.95 collected from the 15th Sutera Harbour 7K Run held last year on August 29.

The cheques were presented to both STS president, Francis Mujim and SOS board chair, Datuk Mohd Safari Manan by Sutera Harbour Resort deputy chief executive officer, Gerard Tan during a presentation ceremony at Sutera Harbour Marina & Country Club here, yesterday.

Tan expressed his gratitude to the 12,000 supporters of the 7K Run last year, whose continuous support has made the 7K Run the biggest charity event in Kota Kinabalu.

“This year’s run is scheduled to be held on August 20 and we are eyeing to double the number of runners by 24,000 people,” enthused Tan.

He also thanked the Minister of Youth & Sports, Kota Kinabalu City Hall, Federal Youth & Sports Department of Sabah, the police and public order unit for their support.

Tan also expressed his appreciation to the main sponsor One Xox Sdn Bhd, Astro Radio Sabah, 100Plus, Red Bull and other contributing sponsors which include Parex Group Sdn Bhd and Shape magazine for their invaluable support.

He also thanked several schools who participated in the 7K collection cards and the media as well as members of the public for their support through their donations as well as participation in the 7K Run.
