TAWAU: The Marine Operations Force (MOF) seized 100 petroleum gas cylinders worth RM12,000 which they believed was to be smuggled out from this country last Wednesday.

District MOF Commanding Officer, DSP Husaini Zainal Abidin said a 30-year-old local suspect was remanded to assit in the investigation.

He said prior to the seizure, five MOF personnel were patrolling along the banks of Sungai Tanjung Batu when they spotted a man who was loading the gas cylinders onto a boat.

In another case, he said the MOF also seized 310 bags of sugar near the port yesterday after finding them at the jetty. However, no arrest was made.
