KOTA KINABALU: The Fire and Rescue Services Department has received more than 800 bush and forest fire calls up to yesterday from January this year.
Its director, Khirudin Drahman said Kota Kinabalu is top with 70 bush and forest fire cases followed by Sandakan (56), Keningau (39), Penampang (33), Kota Belud (24), Tuaran (23).
In the mean time, he advised people to refrain from open burning activities.
The Sabah Environmental Department yesterday issued a temporary halt order on all open burning activities including those done for agriculture purposes.
