TUARAN: The Perak state government wants to learn the Sabah approach that succeeded in strengthening solidarity among the various races and religions in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said like Sabah, Perak has a composition of various races and religions and wanted to unite its people so that development projects can be carried out effectively.
“We want to see from which angle solidarity is built, especially in the context of Barisan Nasional and Umno.
“The commitment shown by the races in Sabah is very good, they understand each other,” he told reporters after officiating the 1Malaysia Gotong-Royong of Tuaran Umno at Kampung Gayang here yesterday.
Asked if Perak Umno would adopt other Umno divisions in Sabah, Zambry, who is also an Umno supreme council member and adopted father of Tuaran Umno, said there was no obstacle to that.
“Personally, I have known my friends from Sabah since I was in Umno Youth. If we want to increase interaction there is no obstacle,” he said.
At yesterday’s ceremony, Zambry together with state Local Government & Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor, who is also Tuaran Umno chief, participated in a gotong-royong to build Masjid Nurul Ikhwan together with the villagers.
