All because of a RM30 invalid reload coupon

12th March, 2010
  • A complainant was put into an unnecessary inconvenience all because of an invalid RM30 reload coupon.

GORDON from Keningau said that he purchased the card from an agent last week only to discover the reload digits were invalid.

“After learning that the reload coupon was invalid, I went to see the agent but they told me that they couldn’t do anything about it. Instead they advised me to contact the telecommunication company’s careline centre,” he said.

When contacting the careline centre, he was instructed to deal the matter with the company branch in Kota Kinabalu.

However, he reasoned that he would lose more money by travelling to Kota Kinabalu just to reclaim the RM30 he had spent on the coupon.

“I thought it wouldn’t be wise. I paid RM30 for the card but now I’ll have to fork out RM50 to go to Kota Kinabalu to settle the matter with the branch. All I wanted was to get my money back. I can’t understand why this is so complicated,” he added.

  • A spokeswoman from the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission, when contacted, gave the assurance they would pursue the matter with the parties concerned.
