Q: My family was so against my boyfriend that my grandma threatened to send my brother and uncle to beat him up.
I didn’t want to see him hurt, so I broke up with him. I lied that I was seeing another guy.
He cried and begged me. It was so hard but at the end we decided to part for a while.
I can’t stop thinking of him and my studies are affected. I just hope that time will pass quickly until we are both 21 and nobody can separate us again.

It’s painful to have done what you did.
But I can’t see why you can’t keep in touch in the mean time until you are able to see each other again. You don’t have to wait that long to tell him the truth.
He will understand if he has any true feelings for you. He will accept you and love you all the more for the sacrifice you made.
Calm down. Don’t worry. You have all the time you have got. Get on with your studies.
