Three men held in house-breaking probe

TAWAU: Three men who broke into a house at Kampung Haji Matahir near here and escaped with valuables, cash and smart phones estimated worth RM100,000, have been arrested by the police.

District police chief, ACP Peter Umbuas said the incident was believed to have occurred at 12 midnight on Friday and only discovered by the occupants on their return from Lahad Datu.

Peter said following a report lodged by the victim, 32, a police team from the Bombalai Police station arrested the three suspects, comprising two locals and an Indonesian, aged 20 to 29, at 8.20am on Saturday.

He said the suspects later led police to a house in the village to recover the items they had stolen which included three smart phones, RM7,000 cash and an assortment of gold ornaments.

“The suspects are being detained for further investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code,” Peter said.
