JBorneo 2019 mission accomplished

9th December, 2019

KOTA KINABALU: The Jelajah Borneo 2019 (JBorneo19) ended on Saturday with high hope that it has achieved its mission to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2020 and Sabah as a big bike tourism destination.

Greeting the convoy of 20 big bikers was Assistant Industry and Trade Minister Azhar Matussin at the Harley Davidson outlet in Kolombong near here.

The JBorneo19 expedition organised by Persatuan Anak Tanjung Aru (Persata) in collaboration with Sabah Big Bikers Association (SBBA) and Tourism Malaysia was flagged off at Perdana Park in Tanjung Aru on Dec 1.

Met later, Azhar who is also Karambunai Assemblyman said the programme was commendable because he believed it was among the best ways to effectively promote Sabah.

“The efforts by Persata, SBBA and Tourism Malaysia are most welcome and hopefully their collaboration will not end here but continue on for the benefit of all,” he said.

Meanwhile, organising chairman, Hossin Bayani said JBorneo19 convoy covered a total 2,057 kilometres during the seven-day-six-night expedition.

“We are thankful to SBBA and Tourism Malaysia for their support. We will continue to promote Visit Malaysia Year 2020,” he said, adding that JBorneo19 was aimed mainly to create excitements for the VMY2020.

Apart from that, they wanted to promote Borneo, in particular Sabah as a premier big bike or motor sports tourism destination, he said, adding that a documentary on the JBorneo19 expedition would be produced as a promotion tool that would be sent abroad.
