Foreigner with crystal meth nabbed

LAHAD DATU: Police arrested a foreigner with 12.86 grams syabu estimated worth RM 1,929 in an oil palm plantation at Jalan Lahad Datu-Tungku on Sunday.

The man, aged in his 40s, was spotted acting in a suspicious manner in front of an unnumbered house by a police team from the district police headquarter Strike Team at about 4.00 pm.

OCPD ACP Nasri Mansor said the suspect attempted to escape when the policemen identified themselves but was apprehended, adding that, the police team then searched his sling bag and found two packets containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu in a pencil box.

The suspect who did not have any valid identification documents and the seized substances were taken to the district police headquarters for investigations under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added.

“The suspect’s urine screen test has been tested positive for syabu or Methamphetamine,” Nasri said.
