KOTA KINABALU: Celebrity-turned-chef Dato Fazley Yakoob who was invited to feature his award-winning signature dishes for Ramadan at Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu gave out autographed posters of himself for his fans as to encourage them to donate to Rumah Bakti Harapan, Inanam.

He said, the act was his way to help those in need, in a charity form, and that fans can donate as a goodwill gesture on the month of Ramadan while also breaking fast at the Buffet Sungkai here.

“It is my great pleasure to also meet and greet some of the customers as well as my fans who come to break the fast here at Promenade Café,” he said when interviewed by reporters during a meet-and-greet session here, on Wednesday night.

The theme for the hotel’s Ramadan Buffet Sungkai this year is ‘From Rembau to KK’ was inspired by his award-winning family restaurant, SukaSucre Bistro “From Rembau to Paris”.

“I have created 35 menus which include appetisers, main dishes, and also desserts. Out of 35, 15 have won many awards.

“I hope that the menu that I presented will bring Peninsula – the birthplace of my restaurant SukaSucre Bistro – closer to Kota Kinabalu. I think this is a grand opportunity for me to bring my signature dishes to the people of Kota Kinabalu,” he added.

Besides that, the chef will also feature his signature dishes at Peppers Café in Promenade Hotel Bintulu on 16th May.

“Throughout the month of Ramadan, besides Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu and Bintulu, I am also the Chef Executive at Four Season in Kuala Lumpur and also my own restaurant SukaSucre Bistro,” he added.

According to the chef, he has always regarded Sabah as his second home as he has always visited the state to conduct motivational programmes for university and secondary school students.

“I will be coming back to Sabah at the end of the month of fasting to meet Sabahan youths and share the importance of soft skills such as cooking and business,” he revealed.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s Group Chief Executive Officer Adrian Wei said that these Initiatives and many more planned are part of the Promenade Group of hotels corporate social responsibility programme as a way to continuously give back to the community.
