KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia’s largest car manufacturer, Perodua, hosted a group of Sabah media with an exclusive TransBorneo Convoy of its latest model – Aruz.

Launched yesterday by its Regional Sales Manager Desmond Ong, six Aruz vehicles left Perodua Bundusan outlet, here with Tawau as their destination. The journey will end on March 22.

The Sabah edition is a continuation of its Sarawak series which was held from March 16-19. The TransBorneo journey will cover an approximate of 1,500km from Sarawak to Sabah.

Along the way, the convoy will be calling at major cities including Kota Kinabalu, Ranau, Sandakan and Lahad Datu to engage with local communities and councils, allowing them to get up close to and experience the new Perodua SUV.

Meanwhile, during the Sarawak convoy launch, Perodua President and CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad noted that Perodua is aiming for its new seven-seater SUV, to top the SUV sales charts in East Malaysia, a predominantly SUV-driven market.

He said that Perodua is targeting to further expand its East Malaysian market share from 40 per cent currently, and the new Perodua Aruz will spearhead that expansion in this SUV-popular region.

To date, since Perodua Aruz’s launch in January, over 4,000 units out of over 14,000 bookings nationwide have found their owners. The SUV is priced at RM74,900 for the X variant and RM79,900 for the AV variant.
