Sharp unveils ASEAN’s first 8K TV

SHAH ALAM: Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (SEM) unveiled its first AQUOS 8K TV lineup AX1 Series with Real 8K Resolution panel (7,680×4,320), the highest resolution to be seen in the whole TV category.

It is the first 8K TV that is commercially available in ASEAN market. Sharp touts its full AQUOS 8K TV line-up that comes with the highest processing engine as the first step to shape an 8K world. This 8K range is available in three large screen sizes – 60”, 70”, and 80”, and will feature several top-notch technologies, including Real 8K Resolution panel made-in-Japan, Real 8K Colour and Real 8K Contrast, all creating an immersive realism in your TV viewing experience.

“It is always our ambition to build our brand to be the world’s most valuable brand and we intend to achieve this with innovation and technology that have always been the foundation of our product planning and business expansion,” said SEM’s managing director, Robert Wu.

Also present at the launch were President’s Office head cum ASEAN Business chief executive officer, Yoshihiro Hashimoto; SEM deputy managing director, Ting Yang Chung; Consumer Electrical Division general manager, SM Tok; and Product Marketing Division general manager, SG Lau.

Robert added since 2009, Sharp has been waiting for this day to bring 8K TV to Malaysian consumers.

“So today, I’m proud to announce the World of AQUOS 8K is finally here with the arrival of our line-up of 8K TVs in Malaysia and the first in ASEAN!” he said.

The high-quality Real 8K Resolution panel has 33 million pixels, 16 times more than the resolution of Full HD, 4 times more than 4K Ultra HD. The display reproduces images at a higher resolution than the human eye can capture, allowing you to zoom in to details within an image to an extent not previously possible. All AX1 series use SHARP’s proprietary UV2A panel made in Japan while the 80” model has IGZO panel for rising sense of resolution.

The Sharp AQUOS 8K TV is also powered by Android TV operating with the latest Android TV version 8.0. Its Eilex PrismTM feature that delivers powerful sound and increases the sweet spot range, together with the uniquely shaped speakers and double subwoofer deliver natural and clear high-quality sound, which certainly further enhances the viewing experience. The AQUOS 8K is already available in Malaysia, with suggested retail price of RM73,999 (80”); RM36,999 (70”); and RM25,999 (60”).

Besides launching the AQUOS 8K TV, Sharp also announced its Chinese New Year roadshow from January 11 to 15, taking place at the Centre Court of IOI City Mall. The roadshow, open from 10AM to 10PM daily, is organised in partnership with Harvey Norman to celebrate the Chinese New Year and to reward Malaysian consumers during this festive season.

Fantastic promotions, discounts and exclusive offers are in abundance at this roadshow. For any purchase AQUOS 8K TV, it will come with a free Dolby Atmos sound bar and premium service. During these five days also, with any purchase of the 60” Android 4K TV, customers will get a 40” TV for free!
