32 teams set for 9-A-Side Football Championship

KOTA KINABALU: Some 32 teams are expected to compete in the 9-A-Side Football Championship on February 2nd and 3rd at the Sukma Field, Likas Sports Complex.

Malaysia Tombonuo Association Deputy President Ahveens @ Holaru Akian said participation is open to all players throughout Sabah.

“Among the objectives of this championship are to instill the spirit of sportsmanship, promote a healthy lifestyle, enhance the spirit of teamwork, bring out the talents of the youngsters, and strengthen the relationship among the players throughout the State,” he said this in a statement, yesterday.

Ahveens disclosed that the organiser has provided various prizes including cash prizes, medals and jerseys.

“The winners will receive RM1,500 cash, 1st runners-up RM1,000 cash, 2nd runners-up RM500 and the fourth-placed team RM250. All winners will also receive medals and 15 jerseys,” he stated.

Besides that, there are also special awards for the best team, the best goalkeeper, the best player, top scorer and the best group manager.

Ahveens explained that the participation has now been opened to all football teams throughout Sabah and the entry fee is RM300. Entries will be closed on January 31.
