JD.com set to promote Sabah products

KOTA KINABALU: World’s number two E-commerce retailer, JD.com, is eyeing Sabah products to be marketed around the world.

The China-based online retailer who overtook Alibaba to become China’s number one is working with the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry to establish Sabah products catalogue to be sold in the platform.

Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, Datuk Junz Wong said that the ministry will be compiling the local entrepreneurs and their products and help them to get necessary certifications.

“This is a very good platform for us to market Sabah’s products. I will be coordinating with everyone including other ministries to promote Sabah’s products, to bring them together and make sure the entrepreneurs benefit from this platform.

“But first, Sabahans must support Sabah’s products so the industries can survive,” he said when met after listening to presentation by JD.com representatives at his office here yesterday.

JD.com has 300 million registered active users in China alone and its turnover in 2017 was USD55.7 billion.

Apart from linking customers and sellers, JD.com also purchase goods from suppliers online, process, rebrand and market them.
