Cops probing underaged sports bike death

9th November, 2018

By JONATHAN NICHOLAS

KOTA KINABALU: Police are probing into the death of a 15-year-old girl who rode a sports bike before crashing in front of a fuel kiosk at Mile 5, Jalan Tuaran on Wednesday evening.

Masni Apin, a student, died on the spot due to severe head injuries in the 8pm incident, said city police chief ACP Habibi Majinji.

Apparently, the underage biker was carrying a 30-year-old Indonesian man who was riding pillion on the KTM bike. The pillion is now receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital II and reported to be in a critical condition,” Habibi said in a statement yesterday.

Police are still piecing the investigations and have called on witnesses of the crash to contact them, or directly call the Investigating Officer, Inspector Chong Chee Wah at 016-3032030.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death.
