Body of man with rocks found

9th November, 2018

By JONATHAN NICHOLAS

KOTA KINABALU: The bloated remains of a man, believed to be of Indian descent, were found floating along the Sembulan River here at about 9.20pm on Wednesday.

He was found strapped with a backpack filled with rocks while clad in long grey pants and a white collared t-shirt.

City police chief, ACP Habibi Majinji said investigators assumed the man’s race based on skin colour while closer inspections found both of his arms to be inked with tattoos.

“No identification documents or any other objects were found on the man’s body which we believe to be in his 40s.

“Only minor cuts were found on his face while further investigations did not reveal any elements of foul play,” Habibi said.

The body was sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital forensics lab for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death in the next step of the investigative process.

Meanwhile, the public who have lost touch with their family members or employees who fit the man’s description, are told to report to the nearest police station, or contact the Investigating Officer for the case, ASP Alimuddin Usman at 016-6656641.
