Sharp features Malaysian products in campaign

SHAH ALAM: Following up on its successful 33rd anniversary campaign in April, Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (SEM) has launched the Sharp My AQUOS campaign, bringing in more good news and offers to the Malaysian consumers.

The My AQUOS campaign highlights Sharp’s Made-in-Malaysia products, particularly its lineup of the popular AQUOS LED TVs manufactured by Sharp Manufacturing Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd at its Batu Pahat factory in Johor.

Also highlighted are audio products produced at Sharp’s base in Sungai Petani, Kedah by S&O Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd. With the nation celebrating Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day, the campaign was designed not only to reward Malaysian consumers but also as a celebration of Malaysian-ness to enhance the Sharp brand’s affinity with the country.

“Although we are a Japanese brand, we have a long and successful history in Malaysia since 1974. The continuous loyalty and strong support from Malaysians makes us feel like we are almost a local company, a home grown Malaysian brand that promotes Made-inMalaysia products to the world,” said Robert Wu, the Managing Director of Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.

The My AQUOS campaign will run from Sept 1 to Dec 31. Throughout the campaign, Sharp will maintain their price for Made-in-Malaysia products. For instance, Sharp AQUOS 40LED TV (LC40SA5100M) will still be available to consumers at its pre-SST offer price of RM999!

Sharp also said t will contribute RM5 from the sales of each Made-in-Malaysia products during this campaign to Tabung Harapan. In the event that the government decides to conclude Tabung Harapan before Dec 31, Sharp has pledged to contribute the amount collected to charitable organizations as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

As part of its effort to further enhance its branding exposure in Malaysia, Sharp also unveiled up and coming actress Zahirah Macwilson as its celebrity Brand Ambassador. Zahirah’s celebrity touches will further augment Sharp AQUOS not only as a technologically advanced but also as an attractive, fashionable and trendy brand, ideal for the discerning and young Malaysian consumers.

The event was also attended by Yoshihiro Hashimoto, Executive Managing Officer, Head of President’s Office, Sharp Corporation, Katsutoshi Teraoka, the Managing Director of S&O Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd, Won Yin Hock, Managing Director of Sharp Manufacturing Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd and Ting Yang Chung, SEM’s Deputy Managing Director.
