Record attempt by 55 radio Sabah presenters this Saturday

6th September, 2018

KOTA KINABALU: The Broadcasting Department (RTM) in Sabah through SABAHfm will carry out outside broadcasting for nine hours non-stop to set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) in Simpang Mengayau, Kudat on Saturday.

Acting Sabah Broadcasting Department director Malinaziah Datu Mohd Julaspi said 55 radio comperes would be involved in the broadcast from 6am to 3pm.

She said the programme in Bahasa Malaysia is based on the concept of a mini studio linking SABAHVfm, TAWAUfm, SANDAKANfm and KENINGAUfm.

“The choice of nine hours is in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebration in September while 55 presenters were in conjunction with the 55th Malaysia Day,” she said in a statement here Wednesday.

Malinaziah said the programme was aimed at entertaining listeners with the best programmes and delivering information on government policies as a channel between the government and the local community.

She said the programme also involved the cooperation of the Sabah Tourism Board, Tourism Culture and Environment Ministry, and the Royal Malaysian Police to highlight Malaysia Day this year.

Before this, SABAHfm had put its name in MBOR as the first station to broadcast from the highest altitude at Laban Rata Mount Kinabalu apart from SABAHVfm which became the first station to broadcast live while parasailing in Pulau Manukan in the same year. –Bernama
