UPSR Excellence programme for SK Gentisan

KOTA KINABALU: A group of 103 primary six pupils of SK Gentisan attended a UPSR Excellence programme recently to beef up their final preparations for the coming UPSR examination to be held in the last week of this month.

The programme, organised by Suria Capital Holdings Berhad at Wisma Sabah Ports was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility activities and its continued commitment to enhance rural education especially in primary schools.

It was also aimed at assisting the teachers in ensuring the pupils were motivated and ready for the UPSR exam. During a talk session, the pupils were briefed on the several techniques in answering the exam papers in the English Language and Mathematics subjects.

The invited speakers were Amiruddin Prihatiran Abdullah and Mixedryanson Reagen Johnson.

SK Gentisan is located just about 2 kilometres away from the Sapangar Bay Container Port and the pupils are mostly from the nearby villages.

After the session and lunch, the pupils and teachers had the opportunity to view part of the port operations from the executive lounge of Wisma Sabah Ports.

SK Gentian students and teachers were led by the school’s senior assistant, Flora Bunding.

Also present were Datin Mariam Mahmun, Suria Capital’s head of group corporate affairs and communications who is also the programme co-ordinator and Junita Tajul Ariffin, head of group for human resource representing the group managing director.
