Several events lined up for Inter-Church Basketball C’ship

KOTA KINABALU: The annually held UGKK Inter-Church Basketball Championship will celebrate its fifth anniversary as the tournament tips-off from August 14-29 at the city’s Multipurpose Hall, near here.

The tournament will expect a healthy amount of teams taking part especially this year, and the organiser has planned three Grand Finals scheduled from August 30 to September 1 at the Likas Sports Complex indoor arena, near here.

Other than the three finals, an organising spokesperson said that an exhibition match between two international teams against the local all-star team will take place in the Grand Finals.

There will also be other events to attract spectators, including a Slam Dunk performance by Philippines’ international star, David Carlos who is invited by local team, Marlins.

According to the organiser, there will be many more showcases and engagements during the tournament as they target 2,000 fans each day during the three-day Grand Finals.

Recently, UGKK committee members paid an official visit to City Mayor, Datuk Yeo Boon Hai to inform him regarding the 5th edition annual basketball championship.
