Overwhelming response to TID Programme in Telupid

13th June, 2018

By FRANCIS XAVIER

KOTA KINABALU: About 100 budding karate exponents attended the Sabah Karate Association (SKA) Talent Identification Programme that was held at SK Telupid over the weekend.

The one-day programme was conducted by its secretary general Julian Chin and state coach Danny Fredoline. “We are delighted to see the programme received overwhelming response from karate enthusiasts in the district of Telupid.

“In fact, this is a good telling factor that karate is pretty much alive and kicking in the district. We will continue to come and support SKA Telupid in the development of the sport in the near future.

“Besides the TID, we also conducted a briefing on the latest World Karate Federation (WKF) rules and regulations. “At the same time, I was also given the honour to officially grace the launching of the SK Telupid karate club, which is under the supervision of coach Andy Angkangon. So far the club has more than 20 members,” said Julian.

“We are also happy to note that Telupid has managed to produce two state athletes, and we hope that more exponents from the district will represent the state or even the country,” Julian added.

Julian said Arthur Adrian Angkangon will be part of the state team that will take part at the 28th National Cadet, Junior and Under-21 Championship 2018 that will be held at Dewan Seri Perdana, Kolej Sains Kesihatan, Ipoh, Perak from June 21-24.

As for Shahrul Shibba Rohadi, he will be part of the state team for the Milo Open Karate Championship end of this month.
