PENAMPANG: The Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI) will ensure the International Technology & Commercial Centre (ITCC) here achieves its objectives.

Its minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said that it is the ministry’s role to facilitate innovations and commercialisation in the country.

“I’d like to congratulate Sabanilam Enterprise Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datuk Clarence Bongkos Malakun and his family for being innovative in setting up ITCC,” he said.

“I think this will certainly transform not only Penampang but also Kota Kinabalu. This is exactly what we want, and I will look at how the ministry can assist,” the minister told reporters after visiting the ITCC here yesterday.

The RM500 million development, which consists of a shopping mall, a 16-storey office tower, a 19-storey hotel block and a 19-storey condominium block, will be completed by the end of this year.

Sabanilam Group general manager Caesar Mandela Malakun said that the first phase of the development – the shopping mall – would be completed by the second quarter of the year while the second phase comprising the three towers, by the end of the year.

“Once completed, we will apply for the OC,” he said.

Also present yesterday were Clarence, Sabanilam Enterprise’s managing director Datin Sylvia Malakun and Penampang district officer Luvita Koisun.
