SANDAKAN: A karaoke singer was stabbed to death after he refused to hand over the microphone to other customers.

Abdul Rani Doli, 23, according to police, was believed to be hogging the microphone.

And, this resulted in an argument with other would-be singers at the karaoke.

Tempers flared and a fight broke out with three men, one of whom produced a knife.

Rani was stabbed between the ribs on the left side of his body and he collapsed on the walkway in front of a nearby machinery shop and died.

The three attackers immediately fled the scene after that.

The incident happened at a karaoke at Lebuh Tiga here on Wednesday night.

A police team led by senior crime investigation officer ASP Mohd Naeem Mohd Noor rushed to the scene after being alerted by the public at about 11.55pm.

Sandakan police chief ACP Rosli Mohd Isa when contacted yesterday said they were investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Abdul Rani’s body has been sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, New Sabah Times learnt two men had been picked up by cops moments after the murder to assist in the investigation.
