KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) will be setting aside RM200 million to provide micro credit facilities to help entrepreneurs operating small businesses.
The additional funding will be coordinated and distributed through existing channels, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
The government will also set aside a revolving capital fund of RM100 million for the Urban Micro Financial Programme run by Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) considering the success with which it has carried out the same programme for the rural area.
Since its launch early this year, the urban mirco financial programme has provided financing amounting to more than half a million ringgit to some 200 borrowers.
