KOTA KINABALU: Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad has launched its first Celcom BlackBerry Circle in Sabah with the unveiling of the Blackberry Bold smartphone and Celcom Powertools Mobile Email Plans.

The BlackBerry smartphone crafted from premium materials is the first to support tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks across the globe.

It provides superior functionality and performance for business professionals and power users.

The phone integrates on 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi and GPS, which can pinpoint its user location and supports location-based applications and services.

It comes with a beautiful half-VGA (480X320 resolutions at 217 ppi) colour LCD fused to the undersurface of its lens, making images and videos appear in stunning clarity along with multimedia capabilities including a media player for music, videos and photos and a 2-megapixel camera with video recording.

Its launching was officiated by Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Masidi Manjun.

Also present were Celcom senior vice president of Enterprise Services Farid Yunus, vice president Dato Najmuddin Abdullah, general manager of Sabah Region Rozaidi Sharif and Singapore representative Daryl Prince.

Masidi was confident that Celcom’s effort to expand its 3.5G network coverage in the state could be achieved with the strategic cooperation with local and foreign software suppliers.

“This is important to ensure that users get cheaper mobile services and thus intensifying access to internet-based services like e-commerce and e-banking,” he said.

“There is a need for the people to keep in touch with technology, if they want to move forward- as technology had allows them to communicate at any time. It makes work quicker and more efficient.”

The government had implemented several efforts to reduce the digital gap by increasing the number of communication lines throughout the country so that the people got the information they need through the internet, Masidi said.

Masidi lauded Celcom for introducing their latest innovation and concurred that it is the biggest service provider in the state, but there is always room for improvement.

“I myself am a Celcom BlackBerry user and I have to admit that Push Mail system has helped me so much in executing my daily duties,” he added.

Farid said customers, especially existing BlackBerry users, would be impressed with the BlackBerry Bold smartphone’s robust features, stylish design and rich multimedia and productivity capabilities.

“Combined with the new Celcom Powertools Mobile Email Plans, customers will get the most out of our network, which is the undisputed fastest, widest, clearest and best network in Malaysia,” farid added.

He said the plans allowed customers to access their corporate and personal email accounts from as low as RM38 a month.

For BlackBerry Internet Service subscribers, there are three options to consider from light, medium and heavy email users including an additional plans for those who deployed BlackBerry Professional Software, he said.

“Our customers demand instant and reliable connectivity as well as seamless communication, which is why we have introduced such flexible mobile email solutions.

“Customers will recoup the cost in a day from time and travel saved by having email at their fingertips, and the corresponding increase in productivity and efficiency,” Farid said.
