KOTA KINABALU: Home crowd favourites, Koo Foi Long and co-driver William Thien Shian Vun won their second silverware in as many weeks as they claimed the SFWDA Jamboree Keningau 4X4 Amateur Challenge, last weekend.

The Keningau duo who won the Kota Marudu Amateur 4X4 Sabah Open Challenge two weeks ago, continued their good form to clinch the competition’s top spot, held at the Kapayan Recreational Resource in Keningau. Koo and William scored a total of 201 points to run away with the champion’s trophy plus RM2,000 cash and spare parts worth RM1,500.

Kota Kinabalu representative, Ngui Chan Loong and Hoh Vun Khong once again lost out to the Keningau duo for the second successive competition.

The pair scored a total of 164 points to finish a distant second place, winning RM1,000 cash plus trophies and spare parts worth RM1,200.

The final podium spot went to Yap Soon King and his co-driver Jufry whereby the pair took home RM500 cash plus trophies and spare parts worth RM1,000.

The off-road competition was organised by Sabah Four Wheel Drive Association (SFWDA) in conjunction with the Crocker Range Festival held in the district.

For the record, a total of 13 vehicles consisting of 26 amateur participants from all over Sabah and Brunei took part in the three-day competition.

Other than the 4X4 competition, there were also other activities organised such as tug of war, children flour challenge, remote control car competition, fishing, kayaking and mountain bike fun ride.

SFWDA president, Faez Nordin attended the competition’s closing ceremony on Sunday to present the prizes to the winners.
