KUALA LUMPUR: The ‘L’Oréal Colour Trophy Award 2008’ winner was recently crowned at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

James Chin Fan Seng of Andy Chan Hair Studio distinguished himself from others with his modern artwork that reflected the future hair trends of 2008 and beyond.

James brought home more than RM 65,000 worth of prizes and an opportunity to attend the L’Oréal Colour Trophy UK Gala Night in London, exclusive cover and photo shoots in three magazines ( Female, Nuyou and Eh!), and the chance to work with international hairdressers.

In the Award’s seventh year celebration, 12 finalists were selected from a nationwide search. The finalists wowed audiences with their breath-taking French-inspired artistic work, leaving the audience captivated with ‘Frenchtitude’ artistry in line with this year’s theme ‘French Art of Hair’.

The winners were judged by their application and creative use of colours, application of technical or artistic cutting and styling, overall look from head to toe, face and body make-up blending with the overall appearance, and a look that essentially mirrored styles that would inspire women nationwide.

The first runner-up for the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Award 2008 went to Keanu Ting Chor Hoa of Andy Chan Hair Studio. He was not only presented with a prestigious plaque but brought home RM6,800 worth of prizes including a marketing kit, a trip to Australia and tickets to a L’Oréal Colour Trophy event.

The second runner-up went to Loong Teng Choon of Shawn Cutler, who won a prestigious plaque and prizes worth RM 3,500 including a marketing kit, a trip to an Asian country and entrance to a L’Oréal Colour Trophy event.

Aside from the top three prizes there were special award categories including Estetica Cover Award 2008, Editors Choice Award 2008, The Star Clove People’s Choice Award 2008, and Shu Uemura Best Make-up Award 2008.

The Star Clove People’s Choice Award, the most preferred hairstyle chosen by the Star readers, went to Max Chang Yang Leong of Max Style Hair Saloon & Academy.

Soo Kia Jep from A Cut Above, Pavilion bagged two special awards, The Editors Choice Award 2008 and Estetica Cover Award 2008. Soo will place his winning creation on the cover of Estetica Magazine.

The models were judged on their make-up which blended looks to their hairstyle. The winner of Shu Uemura Best Make-Up Award 2008 was Keanu Ting Chor Hoa from Andy Chan Hair Studio, who was also first runner up.

The panel of judges for the Grand Finalé consisted of Dato’ Bernard Chandran, a renowned fashion designer; Grace Lee, Editor-in-Chief of Nuyou Singapore; Monica Lee, L’Oréal Paris makeup artist; Royston Blythe, UK International Artistic Ambassador; Luisa Barberis, representative from Estetica Italy; and Govin, Artistic Ambassador from Taiwan.
