13th October, 2017

KOTA KINABALU: The 5th Kota Kinabalu Century Cycling Race 2017 organised by Cycling Association of Kota Kinabalu (CAKK) will be held on Nov 19, targeting 600 cyclists.

CAKK president Eric Ye said this during a courtesy call on WSG Group managing director Datuk Susan Wong, on Wednesday, to receive sponsorship from her. Also present at the occasion were CAKK vice president Gilbert Wong, secretary Patrick Wong and committee member Chang Chiew Hien.

Ye thanked Susan who is also the honorary member of the association, for her continuous support for the race, noting that she has been the core sponsor since the race started in 2013.

Susan meanwhile acknowledged that cycling is a great activity worth promoting as, aside from promoting a healthy lifestyle, it also has high potential to be an international sporting event, which could attract cycling enthusiasts from all over the world.

In briefing her on the race, Ye noted that apart from the local and Peninsular Malaysian cyclists, this year the race has also received participation from China, Japan, Thailand, and Brunei.

He also thanked the Sabah Tourism Board, the Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Tuaran District Council, Sabah State Cycling Association and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), for their support.

There are nine categories for this year’s race and the registration fee for non-members will be RM170, while CAKK members enjoy special rate at RM120 per person. All participants will receive limited free jerseys and finisher medals. Besides this, there are also attractive lucky draw prizes including road bike and mountain bike. Registration will be closed on Oct 31. – PR
