EPF reminds members to ensure their saving accounts are in order

17th June, 2008

KOTA KINABALU: The Employee Provident Fund (EPF) has launched a campaign to remind members to check their statements of account to ensure that their EPF savings are in order.

The campaign, in the form of new television and radio advertisements will run till July 11. The advertisements are designed to communicate to members the importance of checking their EPF statements to make sure that their employers submit their contributions accurately and in timely manner.

“This year, the EPF sent out more than seven million statements of accounts to its members as part of our efforts to keep our members informed of the status of their EPF savings. We strongly call upon all members to go through their statements thoroughly to ensure that their contributions and savings are in order. Should anything be amiss, the member must immediately seek an explanation from their employer or the EPF,” said Nik Affendi Jaafar, EPF Senior Public Relations Manager.

The 2007 statements were issued to members who contributed to the EPF for at least one month between January to December 2007. However, members who have not contributed during the year will still be receiving their statements of account once in every three years, if they have updated their correspondence address with the EPF.

All statements of account are mailed directly to members’ residential address or respective employer’s address as registered with the EPF and therefore members who have moved should update their EPF right away. Members are also advised to keep their statements safely for their future reference.

“Members who have not received their statement, or who would like to retrieve their statements more often, have an alternative way through the EPF Smart Kiosk – a self-service electronic kiosk that provides members the convenience of retrieving their latest statement within minutes, through MyKad and thumbprint identification.

These kiosks are available at EPF offices and other strategic location such as Institut Jantung Negara, selected branches or RHB Bank, AmBank, CIMB Bank and Citibank,” Nik Affendi added.

He said that besides the Smart Kiosk, members can also access their statements through i-Akaun, a personalised online account for members to securely conduct various EPF transactions through myEPF website.

However, members who wish to use the i-Akaun online services must first register at any EPF offices or Smart Kiosks to obtain their activation code.

“For those who are constantly on the move, the m-Akaun offers members the convenience to receive specific information about their EPF account via Short Messaging Service (SMS) through their mobile. This service is available for subscription to all i-Akaun holders,” he added.
