300 for Kokol Nature Adventure

13th September, 2017

KOTA KINABALU: Around 300 outdoor lifestyle enthusiasts are set to participate in the 4th Kokol Nature Adventure 2017 happening on September 24 at Kg Sinagang in Menggatal.

Casero Events Managing Director, Steve Johnny Mositun said that the event only has a limited number of slots available and it is considered an exclusive annual event.

“We are happy to announce that we have met our target of 300 participants where eligible runners are advised to double check their names on our official Facebook page or contact our contact person for the list,” he said when contacted, yesterday.

He added that the limited slots was necessary in order to make the Kokol Nature Adventure as one of the most exclusive running events in Sabah as well as promoting the Kokol area to outsiders.

As usual every year since 2014, the People’s Development Leader (PDL) N. 13 Inanam Unit, led by its head Fredolin Totin, will co-organise the event with Casero Events.

“We are happy that the PDL N.13 Unit is willing to co-organise the event once again. This time around, we hope to see more visitors to Inanam or Menggatal, especially to Kokol Hill where it is one of the nearest Kota Kinabalu City’s nature attractions,” said Steve who is also the race director.

The event will maintain its running route at 17Km for both Men’s and Women’s Open (18-35 years), while the Men’s and Women’s Veteran (above 40 years) will be at a distance of 15Km.

However this year, Steve announced that the route will be without the river crossing as last year while it is going to be a counter clockwise version of last year’s track.

More than RM9,000 cash prizes are up for grabs for those finishing in the top 10 of their respective categories. Participants can collect their race pack at Sport Mart in Suria Mall Level 3 from 11am to 7pm on September 22 (Friday) and also on the next day (Saturday) at Kokol Villaku Homestay in Kg Sinagang, Menggatal.

Steve urged all participants to be fully ready especially for the mandatory kit as organisers would minimise the water stations and runners need to bring their own water pack.

“Weather would be very wet and cold if it rains while on a normal day, it can be quite humid and hot after 8am.

“The last climbing section will be the ultimate test for novice runners while the experienced runners will take this event as their preparation for other hill or mountain races,” he concluded.
