Rayven, Christopher win Nett, Gross categories

KOTA KINABALU: Rayven Leong Kim Tai and Christopher Daniel James came on top as champions of their respective categories during the 4th Kinabalu Golf Club (KGC) Closed Championship played at KGC in Tanjung Aru, near here. Rayven clinched the Nett title by two shots over Maximillian Jr Boijol during the championship which was shortened due to unplayable weather conditions.

Latius Lumbog settled for third place followed by Mohd Sofian Alfian Nair and Nicholas Marcus in fourth and fifth place, respectively whereas Juanis Tinggal, Awang Mohd Seh Pg Damit, Sabarudin Ismail, Ompan Danin and Lee Jyh Yeong completed the category’s top 10 finishers.

Meanwhile, Christopher Daniel ran away with Gross title by a margin of five shots over KGC Captain, Chua Poh Guan who finished second while Yahya Mohd Yusof finished third, a further three shots away.

Sabarudin Ismail, Nicholas Marcus, Hj. Laudin Sundang, Ag Mohd Seh Pg Damit, Jakrin Basiran, Puney Kiob and Osman Jalil finished fourth to 10th place, respectively for the category.

The prizes were presented to the winners by KGC president, Datuk Abdul Razak Walli where Chua announced during his closing speech that the anticipated KGC Open Golf Championship will take place in February next year.
