Organisers expect over 60 participants

8th September, 2017

KOTA KINABALU: Jolly’s Team will join forces with Lundouz Karaoke Lounge and Bar to organise the inaugural Datuk Balbir Arjan Ramday Arm Wrestling Championship 2017.

The event that is supported by the Sabah Arm Wrestling Association will take place at the Lundouz Karaoke Lounge and Bar located at Towering Koidupan in Penampang.

The organisers’ spokesman Jolly Johnson from Jolly’s Team said the inaugural championship, which is also known as the Sabah Arm Wrestling League, will be held every Saturday from September 9 until October 7.

“We are expecting more than 60 arm wrestling enthusiasts to take part in the month-long league,” said Jolly yesterday.

He added that the championship will feature three categories for men namely 75kg and below, 75kg and above and amateur (free weight).

Jolly said that the top four winners of both the 75kg and below and above categories will receive RM1,500, RM1,000, RM500 and RM300 respectively while the amateur winner RM500, RM300, RM200 and RM100 for second, third and fourth place respectively.

All the top four winners will also receive trophies. Jolly said the first showdown is this Saturday from 8pm, while the second on September 23, followed by September 30 and the final on October 7.

“This will be the best venue for arm wrestlers to show their prowess ahead of the Sabah Open, which is expected to be held later this year,” said Jolly, who is also the Sabah Arm Wrestling Association deputy president. Registration fee is RM50 with T-shirt and RM30 without T-shirt.

Interested athletes may contact Jolly at 016-8112277 or Rian Seng (011-51764862) or Branden (017-8627610).
