KOTA KINABALU: The huge gaming fraternity in the state has directed Acer Malaysia’s attention to the Sabah market.

It promises to introduce more products to cope with the rising demands of gaming devices.

“Sabahans can now look forward to a new gaming product from powerful to casual gaming, as well as a range of lifestyle devices offering efficient computing,” said Acer Malaysia Kota Kinabalu Branch Manager, Perry Chong at the special launch for Sabah Acer Day here, yesterday.

Explaining about Acer’s latest products, its product manager, Edmund Hoh, said that the gaming line-up is led by the Helios 300, which is marketed under its Predator series gaming sub-branding.

The laptop comes packed with performance-driven features such as an over-clockable Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, 7th generation Intel Core i7 7700HQ 2.8GHz quad-core processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM and a large 15.6in full-HD IPS display.

Interestingly, the Helios 300 is designed to keep its cool with the new AeroBlade 3D fan, which Acer claims has the world’s thinnest metal fan blade at only 0.1mm.

According to him, the fin axial blade design results in 35 per cent increase in airflow so that the gaming experience will be smooth and much quieter than regular gaming rigs.

Other gaming-friendly features include the pre-loaded PredatorSense software which can be used to monitor the system temperature, CPU fan speed and system fan speed in real time.

The Helios 300 is priced at RM5,999.

For more affordable gaming experience, users can opt for the Nitro 5, featuring a large 15.6in full-HD IPS display, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, and the choice of either an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. Other notable features include dual fans with Acer Coolboost technology, which allows for manual control of fan speed and cooling process when the laptop runs heavy tasks.

The i5 model retails at RM3,299 and the i7 is priced at RM4,699.

While the main showcase of the event was the gaming line-up, there is something for everyone from Acer. The non-gaming devices are led by the ultra-portable Acer Switch 5. Similar to its predecessor, last year’s Switch Alpha 12, the 2-in-1 laptop has a fan-less design made possible with Acer’s LiquidLoop cooling technology.

He added that the heat is dissipated through a continual process of evaporation and condensation of liquid. This keeps the device cool and quiet even during prolonged period of usage.

Other improvements include a new fingerprint sensor on the top right of the frame and the redesigned keyboard, which Acer says offers a more natural typing experience.

Its unique 2-in-1 design also means that users can easily detach the keyboard and operate the device as a tablet via the 12in IPS QHD (2,160×1,440 pixels) touch display.

Other specs include 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD (solid state drive) storage, a bundled Acer Active Pen stylus and the choice of either an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor.

The i5 model is priced at RM3,999 while the i7 goes for RM4,999.

On the other hand, Acer Product Manager, Jefferey Lai explained more about Acer other new products include the ultra-portable Swift 3 laptop priced from RM3,399 to RM3,899, the 10in Intel Atom-powered Acer One 10 (RM1,099), as well as the Aspire Z24 and U27 all-in-one desktop PCs priced at RM4,699 and RM6,499 respectively.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with Acer Day, the public can now participate in exciting daily online challenges to collect points and stand a chance to win fabulous prizes comprising Acer Nitro 5, Swift 5 and Spin 5 laptops.

From Aug 3 until Sept 30, customers will also receive shopping vouchers of RM50 for the purchase of selected Acer models below RM2,999 and Microsoft Office 365 software as well as 1tH Hard Disk Drive for above purchase.
