Second golf crown for Fantastic 4

7th August, 2017

By UMESH RAJAN

KOTA KINABALU: Team Fantastic 4 won their second team event of the year when they were crowned champions of the Nexus Borneo Cup Inter-Team Golf Challenge held at Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai (NGRK) in Tuaran on Sunday.

After winning the NGRK Inter-Team Golf Challenge in February, the four-man team led by captain Chua Poh Guan, Safarrudin Abidin, Fazley Chua and Edmond Tubong fired a combined score of 205 shots to defeat the other 22 teams participating.

The tournament used the System 36 format where both Chua and Safarrudin carded a four-under par 68, Fazley shot a three-under par 69 while Edmond finished the day at two-under par 70, however only the best three results were counted as the team’s overall score.

As a result, Team Fantastic 4 won the tournament by a staggering eight shots over their closest rival, The Blues who finished on 213 shots while one shot further is third place finisher, Team Navy BBKK (214).

NGRK Golf Operation Director, Steven Cheah was delighted that the tournament had received warm response by local golfers since its introduction last year while thanking all the teams for their supports.

He also announced that NGRK will hold several promotions for local golfers starting this month in conjunction with the Merdeka celebration which offers golfers playing at the course to add another RM50 (weekdays) and RM70 (weekends) to the current green fee if they decide to play another round (18 holes).

“We will also organise our Nexus Golf Series Competition next month (September) which will be ongoing until November before the finale tournament on December,” he said during his closing speech.

For more information regarding the promotions, do contact NGRK at 088 – 411 215.
