‘Pawn and Win’ with Bank Rakyat

28th July, 2017

By NOOR ZAFIRA SHAFIE

KOTA KINABALU: Pawning may seem only for persons in desperate need of money. But Bank Rakyat begs to differ. It is organising a ‘Pawn and Win’ event through its latest campaign called ‘Kempen Emas 1 Kilo’

It is designed for the bank’s Ar-Rahnu customers as reward for supporting the product. The ‘Pawn and Win’, is aimed at ensuring that the community has a better understanding and knowledge of Ar-Rahnu.

According to Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Nizam Sani, the campaign’s chief aim is to encourage more customers to use the Ar-Rahnu Pawn Broke that has 184 branches nationwide.

“We hope to change the perception of the public that Islamic pawnshops are not only for those who have financial problems but it can also be a safe place for you to keep your gold accessories while avoiding riba (interest) transaction which is prohibited in Islam.

“This service is also open to everyone regardless of their race and religion,” he said.

Nizam also mentioned that Bank Rakyat wants the public to understand that they can use their gold as an asset.

“The public can use their gold as an asset that can be invested to boost individual economics standards. “Not only that, Ar-Rahnu is also one of the easiest financing alternatives for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),” he asserted.

The month-long campaign will be held in August, with participants having a chance to win prizes worth almost RM500,000.

Monthly prizes will be awarded to 100 lucky winners while the grand prize winner will bring home a 1kg-gold bar which will be announced when the campaign ends.

“We have 5×10gram gold wafers, 5×5gram gold wafers, and 90×1gram gold wafers for our 100 monthly winners,” he added.

There will be RM10,000 for the first prize winner followed by RM5,000 and RM2,000 for the second and third place respectively.

RM1,000 cash awaits fourth place.
