SANDAKAN: Marine police and Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) seized fake wristwatches estimated to be worth almost RM77,000 during a joint raid on an apartment in town centre here.

State Marine Police Commander ACP Mohd Yazib Abdul Aziz said based on information received, three officers and 10 personnel from the Sandakan Marine Police and four KPDNKK officers carried out the operation at 6.45pm on Wednesday.

The joint enforcement team searched the items on the third floor apartment situated along Jalan Pryer and seized 1,998 assorted name brand of wristwatches believed to be faked, Mohd Yazib said.

One local man, aged 74, was detained for investigation in connection with the seizure. The wristwatches and suspect were referred to KPDNKK for further action framed under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011.
