TAR UC top choice for business studies

15th April, 2017

KOTA KINABALU: Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) is recognised for educating and training future business leader.

Many of its graduates have become chief financial officers, accountants and corporate professionals in Malaysia. The intensive and rigorous academic standards of its business and finance programmes are accredited and accorded the highest recognition by global professional bodies.

Offered and conducted by the TAR UC’s accountancy and business programmes are structured courses to provide an accelerated pathway for students to the TAR UC’s bachelor degree.

Students will acquire globally recognised professional qualifications in relevant arrears from globally recognised accounting bodies – Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM).

TAR UC’s accounting programmes – the Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) – both offered at TAR UC’s Kuala Lumpur main campus, are given ACCA’s highest exemption.

It is the same as for the Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance offered at TAR UC’s Penang branch campus.

TAR UC’s Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) students are exempted from papers F1 to F9 of the ACCA Fundamentals upon successful completion of the Year Two studies and final year students are prepared for the final five ACCA Professional Level paper examinations. Students graduating from TAR UC’s Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) and Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance programmes are exempted from all nine ACCA Fundamentals papers.

The final year Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) programme students can be attempted from ACCA’s Professional Level papers under special arrangement.

TAR UC is also the only institution in the world approved by ACCA to conduct the internally assessed ACCA Fundamentals (Skills Module) programme for all nine ACCA Fundamentals Modules.

This programme is included in the three year Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) programme. TAR UC is ACCA Platinum Approved Learning Partner, placing it among the world’s top five per cent ACCA tuition providers.

TAR UC has also been recognised as a CIMA’s Quality Learning Partner since 2008.

Its Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) students are granted maximum exemption of 12 out of 17 papers from CIMA. Final year Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) programme students can also attempt CIMA’s Management Case Study and Strategic Level papers under special arrangement.

For ICSA, TAR UC graduates in Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) are exempted from 12 of 16 papers during the examination.

Final year Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) students can also attempt the IQS part II under special arrangement with The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA).

TAR UC’s Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) programme is accredited by ICAEW, with programme graduates being granted exemption for eight of 15 papers in the ACA examination.

The latest professional body to grant TAR UC accreditation is CIM, where the university college is recognised as a Graduate Gateway accredited university in Malaysia.

This allows TAR UC students to get an exemption on Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) based on one of the three modules in CIM’s Diploma in Professional Marketing.

TAR UC students pursuing their third year in Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing will be prepared to sit for the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing examination.

Upon passing that, plus relevant work experience, TAR UC graduates are eligible to apply for CIM’s associate membership.

TAR UC’s banking, finance, and investment programmes have also received accreditation from FPAM. Graduates in Bachelor of Finance and Investment (Hons) and the Bachelor of Banking and Finance (Hons) are exempted from Module Three Investment Planning and Retirement Planning of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification programme.

Attractive scholarships are also available at TAR UC for qualified students on the basis of academic merit. For more information, log on to www.tarc.edu.my or call to TARUC Sabah campus (088) 718 481, 718 482. – PR
